FAQ Page
Are your farmers USDA certified organic?
- Mill City Farmers Market (MCFM) is dedicated to the wellbeing and sustainability of our community. You can shop confidently knowing that all vendors commit to our community’s Sustainability Statement. Read more about it here and scroll to the bottom for the vendor commitment!
- Please note that we do not require USDA Organic Certification from our vendors due the significant barriers it can present for emerging and immigrant farmers (time, cost, land ownership, language accessibility, record keeping & more).
Are dogs allowed at the farmers market?
Dogs at Market: Community Health & Safety Guidelines
We love your furry friends, but we also reserve the right to ask you to leave if your dog presents a concern to the safety or health of our community. Take a moment to consider if a busy marketplace is the best environment for your dog with up to 10,000 visitors daily! So many smells, so many noises – many dogs can be easily overwhelmed, resulting in injuries to humans and other dogs. Being intentional about the ways we interact within our community allows everyone to feel comfortable.
- Here are some friendly reminders:
- Well behaved dogs are allowed in the open Chicago Mall area between the Guthrie and the Museum.
- No dogs are allowed inside the covered Train Shed area or inside the Museum.
- Do NOT leave your dog unattended.
- Use a leash 6 feet or less in length.
- Pick up after your dog.
- We recommend avoiding high traffic hours (10am-noon) when bringing your pup to MCFM in our busiest months (June-August).
- Dogs are NOT allowed inside the Mill City Museum.
Thank you for doing your part to create a safe and welcoming environment for our community. We appreciate you!

How do I become a vendor at MCFM?
Our once-per-year application period for the May to October outdoor season closed on January 15th. We spend lots of staff and committee time each winter reviewing applications, ensuring new and returning vendors meet our Sustainability Statement, Local Sourcing Standard and other policies, and coordinating vendor schedules and site needs to create a well-rounded vendor assortment for each market day. To respect the work that goes into this process, we do not accept applications outside our annual application period. Our online applications will re-open for the 2027 season from mid-December to mid-January.
If you’d like to get in touch before then, send us a New Vendor Interest Form (and an Ingredient Sourcing Form if you are a food maker) to info@millcityfarmersmarket.org at any time so we can learn more about your business. You will still need to apply during our open application period.
