Larry has gardened off and on since the age of 10. He has worked on a friend’s organic farm in the mid to late 1980’s. An entrepreneur at heart, Larry has run his own businesses since the late 1970’s. Jackie has homesteaded in Northern Minnesota for 8 years. Her background includes 10 years of energy conservation work in housing. Organic gardening is a favorite passion. Together, they bought Sylvan Hills Farm in September of 2000, fulfilling a long-time dream. In 2003 they certified the farm for organic produce, ready for larger scale production. They currently sell in various farmers markets and operate a CSA.
Other Features
Vine Ripened: All produce is picked within 24 hours or less of delivery. Most of the leafy produce like lettuces and herbs are picked the day of or night before delivery at the last possible moment to obtain the freshest condition.
More nutrition
Clay soil has a great advantage over other sandy soil since less watering is needed. Watering washes out nutrients from produce. Less watering can also mean more flavor in addition to nutrients.
