June 20th, Grazefest with Sustainable Farming Association

"Opening Pitch":  9:45am  Locally Grown Food Champions Megan O’Hara and Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak serve up the first 100% GRASSFED MEATBALLS to open Grazefest Minnesota at the Mill City Farmers Market.


Special Guest: All Day, Visit Sustainable Farming Association's, "Meet the Farmers Booth" to talk with farmers, taste samples of their products, learn about pasture-based farming in MN and more.
 

Mini-Farm:  All Day, Visit our goats, chickens and geese and learn how you can create your own backyard farm!


Cooking Demo: 10:00 am-12:30 pm, A special Grazefest demo features 4 top chefs paired with 4 farmers and the pasture-raised foods they produce.  Featuring Bryan Morcom of Restaurant Alma using Pastures-a-Plenty pork, Phil Becht of The Modern Cafe using Azariah Acres products, Taya Kaufenberg of Common Roots Cafe using Prairie Horizons Farm products and Sarah Master of Cafe Barbette using Moonstone Farm products.  
 


Book Signing:  10:30am, Local author and farmer Catherine Friend will be signing copies of her book, The Compassionate Carnivore.

The Compassionate Carnivore is written in the same witty and warm style that characterized Catherine Friend's memoir Hit by a Farm. Friend uses her perspective as a sustainable farmer and carnivore to consider meat animals’ quality of life—while still supporting the choice to eat meat. Regardless of whether you eat meat once a day, once a week, or once a year, your perspective of what goes on your plate—and in your mouth—will never be the same.

Live Music:  11am-1pm, The Light of the Moon band returns with bluegrass and folk to celebrate Grazefest!

Mill City Museum:  10am - 5pm, 


For Kids: Splash in the museum’s water lab, explore the interactive exhibits and nose around in the Bake lab. 

See the film, "Minneapolis in 19 Minutes Flat", a whirlwind tour of our fair city, written by and starring local humorist, playwright and radio personality Kevin Kling.  The show plays every 30 minutes and is included in museum admission.
