About the market

The Market was started in June 2006 and founded by Brenda Langton, chef/owner of Spoonriver restaurant & Cafe Brenda, John Crippen/ Mill City Museum, Farm in the City.  RiverWest Condominiums and The Wedge Coop provided seed money and Minneapolis based Duffy & Partners donated branding and design services. It was led by Alex Hoag, Executive Director and Marjorie Hegstrom, Market Manager.

Our mission is to promote local, sustainable and organic agriculture, increasing economic opportunities for farmers, urban youth, small businesses and food artisans. To offer experiential learning about and access to healthy local foods, and build a vibrant gathering place for Minneapolis residents and visitors.
